Millione and Call My Wine Bluff 2013

Posted on Mar 30, 2013

April sees the fifth year of Call My Wine Bluff, an idea I had to help raise funds for the work of Action Aid, our partners in building the Millione schools in Sierra Leone. Action Aid is a great organisation with a clear principle behind everything they do- enabling the poor to take control of their own lives and solve their own problems. That principle is what first attracted me to Action Aid. It’s so important because it recognises the right of every person on the planet to have a decent life and to be empowered to control their destiny. It’s about listening to the poor – who understand their circumstances and needs better than anyone else- and working with them to bring about real change.

The gala evening that is Call My Wine Bluff may seem a long way from such principle, but it isn’t. Fun and laughter are part of human life, whether we live in a prosperous developed country or, like Sierra Leone, one that is near the bottom of the United Nations Development index. Call My Wine Bluff has raised over £625,000 in the past four years and this year the Government is matching every £ we raise- so we get double the money. It’s not a cheap event, but if your pocket allows and your heart is willing do come and join us. Here is what Action Aid say:

“Join us for an exclusive evening of wonderful wine, fabulous food and electrifying entertainment to raise funds for Action Aid’s work fighting poverty around the world. This high-spirited take on the classic TV game-show will see celebrity panellists trying to dupe guests, and each other, into believing a fictional story behind the wine being tasted. The auction includes a guitar signed by Sting, a box at Wembley for the Robbie Williams concert, a luxury villa in the south of France and a wine tasting at your home by an expert.

Call My Wine Bluff 2013 takes place on Thursday 18th April 2013 at London’s prestigious Plaisterers’ Hall.

We would be delighted for you and your guests to join us. To avoid disappointment, please book now.
