Funds for the first school have been transferred!

Posted on Feb 4, 2011

When we took the first steps in developing Millione, our aim was to help children in Sierra Leone get a better education through building primary schools.

Thanks to a simple bank transfer that took place this week, we are a few steps closer to achieving that goal! The plans can be put in motion and that we’ll soon see the first bricks laid. This is a fantastic achievement and has been brought about through a lot of hard work by all of the stakeholders and of course the support of all of you buying the wine!

£50 000 is required to build each school and The Millione Foundation has proudly provided ActionAid with the funds to start work on two building projects. A team from ActionAid are traveling to Sierra Leone in the the next couple of weeks to share the news with the communities involved. I am sure that the joy of the teachers and children on hearing this news will be both humbling and encouraging. We’ll bring you some photographs from that trip when they return.

I would like to say a huge thanks for your support so far. At the same time, it is a reminder that we have a long way to go to reach our ultimate target. The more people that we can reach with Millione, the sooner we can achieve this.

So please celebrate this first milestone with us, by sharing a bottle of Millione with your friends and let’s continue on our path to the third school and beyond.

Cheers!
