Call my wine bluff

Wow! What an event that was!

Millione was proudly poured to 200 guests at ActionAid’s annual Call My Wine Bluff event last week. As an ActionAid ambassador I first started this light-hearted evening of laughter, wine and fundraising in 2007 and the event has grown each year. I am always encouraged by the fantastic support that we receive from the people and organisations by way of prizes, donations for the auction, and attendance. The 2010 event raised £120 000 and a lot of laughs.

The Call My Wine Bluff game involves a panel of celebrities describing a series of wines that are poured for the diners- without them knowing what the wines are. The celebs’ conviction and confidence in their often-colourful descriptions, along with the diner’s knowledge of wine (or in most cases lack of it!) make for some good laughs and educated guesses! Of course only one of the stories told by the panel is true, the rest are bluff. The wines for the evening were kindly donated by Laithwaites Wines and, as usual, there was some great competition amongst the various tables before a winner emerged.

Millione was proud to be poured as the welcome drink at the reception for the 200 supporters in attendance. Unsolicited, many people commented on how much they liked it and I am looking forward to seeing many bottles sold over the Christmas period, allowing us to really start building in earnest in 2011.

Thanks go to the ActionAid team for all their hard work in organising the event and to everyone who bought tickets to attend and supported the auction on the night. They are all one in a Millione!
